We joined a group because we were all interested in the same
idea of desserts. Through an outside
resource, Pintrest, the idea of tie-dye cupcakes captured our eye. After much discussion and picture hunting, we
decided to share it with everybody. With
such an interesting idea of cupcake baking, a person must know all the
ingredients, preparation, and processes to produce the perfect tie-dye cupcake.
Being prepared is
essential
No dessert can be made delicious without the correct
ingredients. This may mean running to
the town’s best supper market. The
ingredients needed are three eggs, water, olive oil, a tube of frosting, food
coloring, and a box of cake mix. We
prefer to use Betty Crocker white cake mix and Pillsbury Frosting. It depends on the baker preferences for
each. Every cupcake should be contained
in a cupcake liner. These cupcake liners
can add a decorative touch to the already colorful cupcakes. There are supplies needed to fulfill the
entire process. One large mixing bowl,
seven spoons, ¼ measuring cup, 1/3 measuring cup, six medium-sized bowls,
twenty-four cupcake liners, two cupcake pans, an oven and oven mitts are very
helpful for the baking. Make sure to
start preheating the oven at 350o. With all of these utensils and ingredients,
you are well on your way to making a delicious dessert.
Combining and creating
the delicious batter is a must
Since you have all of your supplies and ingredients, the
ingredients can now be combined in the large mixing bowl. Set aside at least one hour of your time to
complete the baking process. Grab the bowl and place it in front of you to
assure all the ingredients get into the bowl. Get the three eggs, 1 ¼ cup of water, 1/3 cup
of olive oil, and the cake mix. Crack
the three eggs into the large mixing bowl and pour in the water, olive oil and
cake mix as well. Once everything needed
is in the bowl, grab one spoon and start mixing the ingredients. Mix for about three or more minutes to get the
right consistency. There may be chunks
in the mix and that is completely fine.
Now a bit of color
is needed to make these tie-dye cupcakes
The large mixing bowl is now full with all the ingredients
needed for regular cupcakes. The food
coloring needs to be used to liven up the cupcakes. Evenly distribute the batter from the large
mixing bowl into the six smaller bowls. Make
sure fairly even so every color can be shown in the cupcakes. Once each bowl is filled the food coloring can
be added. The colors of the rainbow,
red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, can go in each dish. Use the number of food coloring drops
recommended for each color on the back of the food coloring box. For colors like purple and orange, a mixture
of colors needs to be used. Now you have
successfully created all the colors of the rainbow.
Be prepared to
create a colorful masterpiece
Now the colors are all ready and you can begin to make the
actual cupcakes. It is essential that
you first put the twenty-four cupcake liners into the two cupcake pans. Now the pans and cupcake liners are ready to
go. Grab one spoon, one for each color,
and use those to spread the colorful batter. Start with the purple colored cake mix to
apply the first layer. Then go through
the rest of the colors in reverse order of the rainbow, blue, green, yellow,
orange and red, layering them one by one. This allows for an equal amount of each
colored batter to be present in the cupcake.
Bake and wait for
the rest
Now the cupcakes are ready to be baked. The oven is preheated at 350o and
is ready for baking. If you prefer to use oven mitts, this would be a good time
to use them; however, not necessary. Grab
the cupcake pans and open the oven door. Place the two cupcake pans into the
oven on the top rack.. Set the timer
for 18 minutes. During the 18
minutes, watch the formation of the sweet-smelling and colorful cupcakes come
alive.
Now time to add
the final touches
Once the cupcakes have baked for 18 minutes, they are ready to come out of the oven. For safety reasons you should use oven mites to avoid burning of hands. Check to make sure they are done by poking a cupcake in the center with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean they are done. Allow 10 minutes for them to cool. This avoids the frosting from running off the cupcakes. Use your washed hands and grab the cupcakes and cupcake liners together from the pans. Grab the tube of frosting and spoons. Start applying the colorful cupcakes with the frosting. The frosting can be applied any way the creator chooses, thick or thin. Now they are finally finished and ready to enjoy!
